Because my wrist/forearm is on the injured list, I had another day of ALL leg exercises! Next week I should be good to go on the TRX, lifting weights again, and pulling on the resistance band. But right now, I'm just doing as the doctor ordered... Besides, my legs are getting a gooood workout!
Yesterday, my legs, core, and arms totally amazed me. Thursdays aren't my workout days with Nicole, but I had pool therapy yesterday, and I think my session is worth sharing! So, there's a chair that raises up and drops down into the pool. I've been getting in and out of the pool using that. My physical therapist leaves the chair down in the water to help me with standing up in the water. I face the chair and grab onto the sides of the chair while standing. Previously when I would practice standing (about 12 months ago), my physical therapist had to stay really close to me, blocking my right knee from giving out, and helping to support my hips. Yesterday was a whole diferent story! I was able to stand at the chair, with stability, by myself...for approx. 10 minutes!!! I even bent, and restraightened each knee! My core and arm muscles have gotten SO much stronger (Thank you, Nicole)!
I couldn't help but let out a big ol' grin! I felt sooo stoked just standing there...no help...didn't feel tired or like I was using up a ton of effort. This may sound trippy to some people, but when I was standing there, I felt my brother, Wes's, presence, and that's what made me smile. Wes's presence was there with me in the pool back when I first started going, directly following his death. And yesterday he dropped in to let me know that he's still with me, following my progress.
After my awesome pool therapy, my body felt whooped once I was at home, out of the water! My legs felt tired all through the evening and into this morning. Due to the rest that the doctor perscribed for my wrist/forearm, I got to kill my legs even more with Nicole! I spent the entire hour doing leg-lifts! Exhausting! I did get one 30-sit-up break to throw my abs a little workout, but the other 50 minutes, I did leg-lifts with the right leg, and leg-lift & bend knee up to my chest and then straighten back out with the left leg. My legs are officiallypooped!
I can't wait until next week when my perscribed rest is over and I get another pool therapy session!
