s we seep into the winter weather, our mornings are getting colder and colder. This morning, the sky was blue and the sun was out, but the air temperature was freezing! It's actually the perfect weather to workout in! And today I was stoked to get back to working out using my arms! Nicole was happy to hear that my left wrist/forearm was all healed up as well.
As it stands, Mondays are widget days, which we followed suit with, but I also got some ab and arm work in. I did some warm-up laps with my widget...pumping the widget forward, back and forwarth across the studio floor.
Then, I wheeled my chair over to the heater vent on the wall, where Nicole had cozied up.
I put the brakes on, and sat there squeezing a tennis ball over and over again. I squeezed the ball with both my left and right hands. It's harder to hold the ball with my right hand because my thumb always bends, and closes in...it's quite a pain!!! And I am constantly having to redo my grip on the ball!
After squeezing the tennis ball in each hand, I switched the ball back to my left hand, and aised my left arm up, and lowered it back down to my shoulder (muscle-man status!). After doing a set of about 15, I switched to the right arm.
Then, with the resistance band, I gripped it with my left hand, palm up, and pulled the resistance band in towards my chest. With these, I really felt my abs engaging, working to maintain my sitting balance. I did a bunch of pulls with the left arm, then I switched and did the same with the right arm.
Next, with my palms up, I grabbed the resistance band with both hands. Pulling the band in to my chest, made my abs work overtime in trying to maintain my balance! Then, I switched my grips, so that my palms were facing down. With my hand this way, I brought my elbows up and back with every pull.
When I finished with the resistance band, Nicole had me squeeze the tennis ball once more. And when I finished with both hands, it was widget time again!
I pulled the widget arms backwards for a number of laps, then I switched it to be pumped forwards. Nicole made sure to made sure to work my right arm by having me turn the widget around with my right arm...EVERYTIME!
Needless t say, my abs and arms definitely feel like they've been worked!
