Today was a good session! I finally feel that the storm cloud over my head has cleared. Thank goodness for that! I'm moved out into a house where I feel wanted, safe, and loved...so, I'm good! My mom & fam have officially made the move to Moraga...by Walnut Creek. I suppose my emotions were just on edge with the big changes in my life looming overhead. But now that the changes have happened, I am better. I do better when stuff actually happens. I'm deffinitely not so good with the potential of stuff happening! Probably explains a lot of my psychological issues with being in the wheelchair. Hmmm...

Well, Nicole worked me out good today! I started with an arm warm-up session that hurt like a b----! Normally, I would say "WE started with arm warm-ups," but I guess Thursday is Nicole's lazy day. While Nicole sat back and shouted out commands, I twisted invisible door-knobs, rotated my arms in lil circles, did "bicep curls" to show my muscles,  raised and held my arms overhead, and brought my arms out in front of me for over-unders. And everytime I would think K, only 3 more, Nicole would say "Now, twist those door-knobs" or "Arms straight up!" Due to the fact that Nicole was enjoying herself way too much ;). the arm warm-ups went on for days! I got so warmed-up, I think I broke a sweat!thw w.chair backrest

Then Nicole brought out the resistance band (with handles). I grabbed the handles, and Nicole grabbed the middle of the resistance band. She plopped her butt down in front of me, far enough away to where the resistance band was stretched out. From there, Nicole asked me to lean forward about 2 inches from the wheelchair's backrest, use my core muscles to hold myself there, and do a rowing like motion, pulling my elbows towards my chest and then releasing my arms straight again. Then Nicole really worked on confusing my muscles and shook the band, pulled one side tighter than the other, and gave the band slack all at random times. This was a really good, challenging work-out for my core! In addition, Nicole held the resistance band from behind and with straight arms, I pulled my arms forward and together. Ow! We played with these exercises for a big chunk of time, then Nicole busted out "the vibrator!"

Nicole's "vibrator" is this machine the is built for standing on because it has this upright handlebar thingy, and it vibrates your feet. It is supposed to vibrate and work all of your little muscles that you don't really get a chance to work out. So I just wheeled my chair up to the foot-plate of "the vibrator." Nicole turned on the vibrations and I sat there with my feet on the machine for probs about 15 minutes. I felt the vibrations going all the way up, throughout my body! And it really got my circulation flowin' in my calves and feet. My feet got super itchy...like that feeling you get after entering a really warm room after being out in the snow!

While I was just sitting still on "the  vibrator," my body cooled down quite a bit and I was freezing! We figured out that it was from the sweat that I had previously worked up!

After I got shaked and rattled a bit, I wheeled back over to the resistance band. We did more core-ballance work and those arm work-outs...the deal with the r.band behind me.
Then, as our session ended and I was on my way out the door, Nicole
e tells me that all of next week she'll be out out of town ...so NO sessions. Sad face.:(
